Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Time

What does Christmas time mean to you? When I think of Christmas time, it brings to me a sense of smell, a familiar smell of a red caroler candle from Avon that my mom puts out every year, a smell of pine from an ornament that we’ve hung on the tree every year since before I can remember. I think of my pink baby shoes, reindeer as old as the hills, the smell of cookies baking, and driving around looking at Christmas lights while eating cashew nougat cookies.

Christmas time is my favorite time of the year. Since I was a child, I have been excited for Christmas, not being able to sleep, thinking about what presents might be under the tree, now that I’m older, I’m excited for all of the other preparations for Christmas.

One of the main preparations for Christmas at our houses is decorating the Christmas trees. My Grandmother started a tradition of buying ornaments every year for my mom and uncle when they were little. Since my brother and I were born, my mom carried on the tradition for us. Buying us matching ornaments every year with our names on them. She puts up a tree in the living room window with our 1st baby ornaments, our traditional ornaments, and ornaments we have made for her. The pink baby shoes were my first ornament from my Grandma. The red Ball with baby’s first Christmas written on it is my brother’s first ornament from my Grandma. An Angel and a little bell with my name engraved on it, well my name but misspelled for my second Christmas. And a tree I made for my mom in kindergarten, of which I was so excited to give her!

This tree is very special to my mom and our family, and I think with every year as the family grows, and with more ornaments we add to the tree, this resembles us growing older and how fast time really is passing us by.

Decorating takes us a few days at our house; there are 8 trees in full decoration, a peppermint corner, and a counter for cookie baking.

Christmas time is such a special time for my family, we have developed many traditions over the years, but we never forget the real reason for Christmas.

With this project, I have invited you into my house to see how we decorate our Christmas tree and what makes this holiday so special for us, and our family. So what does Christmas mean to you and your family, how do you decorate your tree, and how will you be celebrating this year?
